CPCD has transverse joints at regular intervals. Expansion joints are used to control temperature-induced contraction and expansion in concrete. Smooth dowel rods are used in transverse joints for load bearing. Transverse joints are spaced 15 feet apart. Longitudinal joints are used to control random longitudinal stress.
